In it’s sixth year the Stephen Cahill tournament took place on Saturday 5 October where we welcomed 2 teams from Doorabarefield, Clooney Quin and Lissycasey in what was a very well run day. We would like to thank the sponsors Goggin Insurance Brokers who sponsored the trophies and medals. The first games got started at 10am with all 8 teams playing, each match was ran off well with a bit of rain falling to make the games a little bit more challenging. The players did not seem to complain as they waded in the muck. The two Mungret St. Pauls teams played some great football but were not strong enough for the visitors as the final was between Doorabarefield and Lissycasey with Lissycasey winning the Stephen Cahill trophy which was presented to the captain by Stephens son, Eoin who we were delighted could attend on the day. There were trophies for each team for the most improved player, David Buckley and Jamie Byrnes were the players awarded for Mungret St. Pauls. Thank you so much to our refs, coaches, umpires and a big Thank you to all the parents who provided sandwiches and treats for the players and parents and to our ladies who helped out in the kitchen serving the tea.
