U-14 Féile Football

Monaleen 1-2 Mungret St. Pauls 2-19
With a home advantage the Féíle competition is worked on a knock out basis. Mungret St. Pauls had a strong team ready to play our familiar rivals Monaleen, having been beaten by Monaleen last year it seems we were ready for them and brought home the score. They next meet Fr. Caseys on Sunday April 9.

U-12 Hurling.

Last Thursday saw the completion of the very successful U-12 Spring Hurling League held in St. Patricks GAA grounds, under floodlight. Over the four weeks of matches all players on the night got to play two matches. We had two teams. In the early part of the league the teams were split into an A and B team and the last two weeks we balanced the teams in a way that would make all four games on the night competitive. The Group 3 team played Murroe Boher, Ballinacurra Gaels and Kildimo Pallaskenry. In Group 1 the team played Murroe Boher, Monaleen and St Patricks and on the last night played Ballybrown and Na Piarsaigh. Thanks to all players and parents who turned up over the duration of the Spring League and braved some of the cold nights to support the players. This was very successful as the coaches were able to provide two games every night to all players, players were played in different positions to their normal position and we were able to move players between the two teams. U-12 training has now moved to the Juvenile Pitch on Tuesday’s at 6pm to 7pm starting March 28.

U-12 Football

On a glorious Sunday 26 March  Mungret St. Pauls U-12 football hosted Austin Stacks, Tralee, Doorabearfield and Clonmel Comercials. Stacks brought three teams while Doorabearfield had 2 and Clonmel one. We had two teams with 32 players on display and all teams played three matches. The matches were played in a great spirit with all players giving their best and were given extremely good challenging games. Our lads were very competitive and showed great heart and determination in their performances. It was very pleasing to coaches when they fell behind they rallied and never dropped their head. It was also pleasing to see all our players enjoying the day and getting a good team spirit going. Thanks to Kevin O’Hagan, John Rochford and Sean Ahern for referring matches and also to Helen, Clodagh, Michelle, Eva, Nicola and Mary for helping out on catering for 130 kids and adults. We are now training on Sundays at 4.30 going forward for the summer with the county U-12 football league starting in late April.

U-16 Football

Mungret St. Pauls 3-7 St. Patricks 7-18

On Monday March 27 a very young U-16 team traveled to St. Patricks with only 15 men the players knew there was a tough challange ahead of them and they started by playing into the wind, it was a struggle to get the ball past the half way line but this group of players never gave up and kept the pressure on the strong St. Patricks team. At half time Mungret St. Pauls went in with 1-1 on their sheet. The second half was a slightly different game the players came out and gave it their all with every additional goal or point to Mungret St. Pauls was seen as a bonus as the defenders were battling down the St. Patricks forwards. This was only the first match for the U-16 footballers.

U-16 Hurling

Mungret St. Paul 3-16 Kildimo Pallaskenry 1-10

In the first competitive match for the U16s we were host to Kildimo Pallaskenry where the visitors showed their presence on the pitch with the first score, Mungret St Pauls replied only for Kildimo Pallaskenry to come back again with a goal. Mungret came back with the same reply and it was at this point where Mungret St. Pauls pulled themselves together and started to take charge. Going in at half time the home team had the advantage with a four point lead.

This was a very physical game with everything put into getting the sliotar into the Mungret St. Pauls forwards. This worked well and they came out with a great win.

Photos from this match are on our website.

U15 Hurling

Mungret St. Pauls 2-5 Ahane 0-7

Ahane had home advantage on Wednesday night when our U15s took their place on the pitch. Mungret St Pauls had Ahane on pace but still only managed 2-5 in the 40 minutes of play. Ahane kept a presence in our backs but were denied any damaging score. They have only two more matches in this group meeting Muroe Boher at home next Wednesday they then have Na Piarsaigh to play.
