Mungret St. Pauls 2-10 Galtee Gaels 2-1
This was a great game to watch with both sides putting their skill and determination into action on Friday 13 September in Mungret. It was a strong Mungret St. Pauls team that won the game but Galtee Gaels put it up to them.
Mungret St. Pauls wrote the score board for the first half as they had 5 points up before Galtee Gaels pointed from a well taken free. Mungret St. Pauls pointed the next ball but it was Galtee Gaels that eventually broke through the strong Mungret St. Pauls backs and hit the top left corner of the net to leave the pitch at half time 0-6 to 1-1, only 2 points in it to Mungret St. Pauls.
After the short break Mungret St. Pauls were working with the slight slope on the pitch as they came back to prove they were deserving winners as they netted the first ball which they followed up with 3 points before the second goal was scored for Mungret St. Pauls. Nearing the end of the game Mungret St. Pauls had shown how strong they were even when they put on subs another point was scored, Galtee Gaels in the last few minutes got awarded a penalty, an unstoppable shot but it did not change the outcome. Mungret St. Pauls go through to the Final.
Mungret St. Pauls 4-3 Knockainey 4-6
On Sunday 26 May our U-14 Ladies Football played in the County Final against Knockainey in L.I.T. Knockainey got the first score in but Mungret St. Pauls pulled themselves back into the game and played a great game. Knockainey came back in the second half and took the lead near the end of the game, Mungret St. Pauls kept the attack going right to the final whistle.
Knockainey had 2 points scored before Mungret St. Pauls replied but it was not to last long as Knockainey attacked again to score another 2 points before a Mungret St. Pauls foot kicked the ball into the back of the net for the second time. We were playing into a strong breeze and to score these 2 goals was a great achievements the breeze was sending out frees off target. Knockainey closed out the half with their first goal and another point to have a 2 point lead.
The second half Mungret St. Pauls had the breeze and scored 2 quick points to draw the game. Knockainey worked the ball well up the field and scored their second goal. A bad tackle in the Knockainey square produced a penalty for Mungret St. Pauls which was well taken and drew the game again. Both sides saw the ball wide of the uprights but at the Mungret St. Pauls goal the ball was passed by a Knockainey player across the front of the goal to a waiting team mate who knocked it into the back of the net. Knockainey tried to follow it up with another point but they hit the upright and went back out for Mungret St. Pauls to try get back on the score board but were unlucky to hit the cross bar. Knockainey kept a heavy presence in the Mungret St. Pauls back line and worked out a point from free and their last score of a goal. Mungret St. Pauls were 6 behind and into injury time, the ball was bounced off the upright again but Mungret St. Pauls players were waiting and turned what could have been a point into a goal. They put all they could into securing one more goal but were unfortunate to be denied by the steady Knockainey defense. Well done to the girls in their valiant performance.

On Saturday 20 April 2019 the ladies football had a past player return to the pitch, unfortunately not to play but to present the U-10 girls with their medals from playing in Croke Park. We were delighted to have Ireland Hockey player Roisin Upton return to visit our pitches. After Roisin presented the girls with their medals, the Ladies Football chairman, Larry Mason presented Roisin with a token for her to remember the club with. We would like to thank Roisin for her time to come to training to see the girls.
