Mungret St. Pauls 3-19 Kilpeacon 1-5

In Mungrets main pitch on Monday 27 August Kilpeacon were welcomed to the last match in the Championship table. Mungret St. Pauls started out well going 6 points up before Kilpeacon replied in the 20th minute with a point and a goal. Mungret St. Pauls held back Kilpeacon and doubled their score to lead half time 0-12 to 1-1.

The second half was much the same with Mungret St. Pauls taking their score and holing off Kilpeacon until the 25th minute when after Mungret St. Pauls scoring a goal and 6 points Kilpeacon put over their 4 points in the finishing half unanswered with Mungret St. Pauls closing the game with 2 final goals. This leaves them in a great position second in the table and in a semi final stage.

Cúl camp for future champions took place last week in Mungret St. Pauls with just under 350 children attending, just under half of these were girls this made us one of the biggest camps in Limerick. We were delighted to have 4 of our players Rory Duff, Patrick Dwane, Conor and James Garvey coaching this week and would like to thank all the coaches who are kept busy with all our young players. The weather brought the rain on the last day shortly before the children had to leave. One of our special visitors was the Liam McCarthy accompanied by Aaron Gillane and Barry O’Connell. We would like to Thank the 2 Limerick Hurlers for visiting us and staying for a photo shoot with our players, we really appreciated it. Thank you to all our helpers for the week who helped keep an eye on all the children. There is still lost and found clothes, there are also some helmets and hurleys missing. We would like to ask you to check everything your children brought home to make sure it belongs to them.

Mungret St. Pauls 5-18 Adare 1-12
Just a short trip out the motorway for our U-16 hurlers to play Adare in what was another great exhibition of play from this team on Monday 6 August.
Mungret St. Pauls were on top form when they started this game going 4 points up before Adare broke through and scored their first point on the 11th minute of the game. Another point for Mungret St. Pauls lead up to the mid fields showing great control on the ball a quick hand off to score the first goal. This boosted Mungret St. Pauls on more and they secured another 2 points before Adare replied with a placed ball score and their only goal of the game. Mungret St. Pauls quickly equaled the goal themselves with another 3 points to Adares 4 more points before the break.
The second half was Mungret St. Pauls game, they never gave up throughout and continued to score in both goals and points while they held back Adare with them only breaching the defense to score 6 more points. There was a lot of pressure put on our backs in the dying minutes of the game as Adare tried to add to their goal score but each attempt was denied by all the backs working together as a team. The subs that were put on were all equally as good as the players they replaced.
