Healthy Club Family Fun Day
Last Sunday saw children and adults taking part in a fun filled day with many activites. For those of a less active disposition there was a book and cake sale in the hall, with plenty of GAA entertainment on the telly in the bar. One of the highlights of the day was the obstacle relay where teams of four joined together to do different sections of the race. Big children joined with smaller children to make teams in an event where no-one was left without a team. Unfortunately a bit of rain fell but that did not stop a lot of the runners who eagerly awaited the next event. Thank you to all who helped out and donated books and cakes. A total of €126.44 will be handed over to The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. In the Hurling Challenge event there was an U10 , U14 and coaches group. The U10 winner was Rian Murphy, U14 was Liam Lynch and the coaches winner was Denis Moloney.
The U6 children came out in the sunshine to play some games against South Liberties. Mungret had 5 teams and all had three 12 minute games of fun. The Healthy Club supplied oranges at the change of pitches which the children all seemed to enjoy, so much so a parent was over heard saying their child does not eat oranges at home. The players and parents went home happy after a well organised blitz thanks to Vinny Gleeson and his team of coaches.
